April 27, 2013 — Two opportunities to jump in NYC

April 27th will be a big day for DDEmpire!

First, we’re joining forces with the great minds at the Tribeca Film Festival for their ESPN Sports Day. In true Double Dutch Empire fashion, we’ll be hitting the festival and teaching folks to jump in the ropes from 10am until 3pm. We’ll even be on the main stage at 2:30pm. Come by and jump with us!!!

Later in the day, we’ll be heading back to Brooklyn to teach a double dutch workshop for the great folks of Brooklyn Skillshare at the Gowanus Ballroom. Dutch It Up: An intro to double dutch jump rope starts at 5pm with a $10 suggested donation.

Jumping in Union Square

The Double Dutch Empire jump rope session in Union Square yesterday was a smashing success!!! DDEmpire joined up with jumpers visiting from Japan, Hishasi & Haruka, and Lisa from USA Jump Rope/Saltare and we got NYC jumping!

Seeking double dutch instructors

Generally I stick to teaching party animals, but recently I ventured off and started teaching a double dutch class for 8-10 year olds in the East Village.

Today was the first class at Campos Community Center and man oh man, so many new double dutchers!! 22 kids to be exact. All DYING to get in the ropes. Awesome.

If you have an desire to teach double dutch, please email me! Folks are hungry for jump rope and there is a MASSIVE shortage of instructors. If you have patience, love to laugh and know how to turn and jump double dutch, I’d love to recruit you to help out.

CBS is airing a story on jump rope and Double Dutch Empire was asked to teach Mo Rocca how to double dutch! The story will air Sunday, January 6th at 9am. Hopefully you’ll catch a glimpse of Melissa Quayle, Alexa Soler and Marlee Colligan. After the segment airs on CBS, we’ll post a link to the story!!!

Bushwick Double Dutch Session

Join us for a double dutch jump rope session on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 20th at 4pm. Meet up on the corner of Bogart & Moore, just off the Morgan stop on the L train and learn to double dutch! I will provide ropes and lessons. Wear comfortable shoes, bring friends and together we will get Bushwick double dutching!!!!

There will be a film crew and some of the DDEMpire action may end up on the news. Woohoo! It will be a good time.

Maybe we can recreate some summer jump rope action.

21st Annual Holiday Classic at the Apollo

UPDATE— Today is the day!!!!! Please follow me on Twitter or Instagram as I will do my best to post photos and video of the event. Woot! Double Dutch Magic will be made at the Apollo today. If you are in attendance, please don’t be shy! I’d love to connect.

The Holiday Classic aka the World Championships of Double Dutch is less than two weeks away!!!! Every year the National Double Dutch League opens up the Apollo to host the best jumpers from around the world to participate in speed and fusion double dutch contests. This is the ultimate jump rope event! I cannot wait for December 2nd. Let the dutching begin!!!!!
